Nahunta-Mr. Elden Beaury Thomas, 67 of Nahunta, passed away Monday morning (March 17, 2014) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Jesup, GA, his parents were Beaury Elden Thomas and Susie Mae Griffin Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Maxine Aldridge Thomas; his step-mother, Aliza Thomas; and a stepson, Clyde Miller. Elden served in the United States Army, and retired as a state manager with Bell South. He attended Raybon Advent Christian Church. Elden enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, and riding his tractor. He loved being outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Diane Thomas, of Nahunta; 3 stepsons, Kevin Herrin, of Waycross, Joseph Herrin (Tracy), of Brunswick, and Chris Miller (Tracie), of Trudie Community; 1-daughter, Jenni Flanagan, of Nahunta Tammy McLaughlin, of TX and 12 grandchildren, Jordan Thomas, Dalton and Maylie Flanagan, Preston, Darren, and Jordan Miller, Betsy Freeman, Amanda, Melissa, and Noah Herrin, Jessica Herrin Gray, and Jake Herrin. Brother and Sister-in-law Billy and Pat Thomas, of Nahunta.A special cousin, Ina Mae Hartwig of Raybon. A Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (March 18, 2014) at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday afternoon (March 19, 2014) at 2PM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Hilton Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Jacobs, Johnnie Crews, Terry Dickson, Roy Crews, Preston Miller, and Lawrence Melton. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
