Brantley Co. – Elder Reavis Lee Hickox, 89, of Brantley County passed away Thursday night (December 10, 2020) at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Hoboken, GA his parents were Ernie Hickox and Alzada Shumans Hickox. He is also preceded in death by his stepmother who raised him, Allie Hickox; a daughter, Sandra Davis; 3 brothers, A.J. Hickox, Gleynn Hickox and J.B. Herrington; and 4 sisters, Grace Bunch, Loucille Griffin, Opal Lanier-Oviada, and Georgia Herrington.
Elder Reavis was a farmer and a retired bus driver for Brantley County Board of Education. He worked several years for Walker Jones and was the owner/operator of Hickox Lawn Service. Elder Reavis was a minister of Enon Primitive Baptist Church which he has been a member of since 1960.And was an ordained minister for 30 years. He loved spending time with his family and his church family.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Waunell Sapp Hickox of Brantley Co; a son and daughter-in-law, Lamar & Phyllis Hickox of Hoboken; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda Lee of Hoboken, Patricia & David Douglas of Hoboken and Sylvia & Matt Thrift of Waycross; 11 grandchildren, Kelby Lee, Fred Lee, Anthony Hickox, Carrie Rycort, Phillip Hickox, Christopher Douglas, Toni Davis, Kurt Hickox, Kristy Thrift, Holly Stringer, and Katie Sheppard; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 5 sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise Addy of Brantley, Sofornia Childs of Alabama, Joyce Griffin of Hoboken and Juna Faye & Donnie Gallman of Homerville; 2 sister-in-laws, Bonnie Hickox of Waycross; Judy Herrington, of Hilliard, FL., and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon (December 13, 2020) at 1:00 PM at High Bluff Cemetery with Elder Theron Gill officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
