Elizabeth Ann Thompson Mertz, 78 of Nahunta, passed away Wednesday (March 16, 2016) at Bayview Nursing Home, following an extended illness.

Born in Jacksonville, FL., her parents were Eldon Milton Thompson and Ruth Autry Langston Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Monroe Mertz; and her son, Gregory Scott Mertz.

Mrs. Mertz was currently a member of Hickox Baptist Church, and a former member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed ballgames and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Terri and David Rounsaville, of Destin, FL.; her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sherry Mertz, of Nahunta; her grandchildren, Taylor, Loren, and Ryan Mertz, all of Nahunta, and Ashleigh and Kyle Mertz, of West Palm Beach, FL.; her sister and brother-in-law, Julie and John Ripley, and niece, Erica and Jeff Jahns. Also several other relatives and friends.

Her Celebration of Life will start with visitation being held at Frye Funeral Home, Thursday (March 17, 2016) from 6-until. Funeral will be held at Hickox Baptist Church on Friday, (March 18, 2016) at 10AM with Rev. Mike Yawn officiating. Graveside service to follow in Jacksonville, FL., at 1PM in Oaklawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Gene Mertz.

Pallbearers will be Tim Mertz, Ryan Mertz, Trevor Hendrix, Jack Cathcart, Chad Hester, and Dustin Morrison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Weston Lake and Tristan Yeomans.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
