Ernest Carroll Johns,Jr.

Brunswick-Mr. Ernest "Ernie" Carroll Johns, Jr., 55, of Brunswick died Friday evening (Aug. 3, 2012)from an apparent heart attack. Born in Jacksonville, Florida he was the son of the late Ernest Carroll and Agnes Elizabeth Jacobs Johns. And was also preceded by a brother, Craig Johns. A member of The Waynesville Missionary Baptist Church where he also taught the youth, and was self employed as a Surveyor which he truly loved doing and was the best dad ever. He also loved fishing, scuba diving, softball, hunting and flying. And enjoyed building things, one of his projects was a big boat which he called, "Ernie's Art". He was a member of Golden Isles EMMAUS, Rally Point and SAMSOG (Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia.) Survived by his loving wife of 16 yrs., Helen Smith Johns, of Brunswick, 3-children, Brandy Johns, of Jekyll, Island, Eddie Summerville and Angela Summerville, both of Brunswick, 2-brothers and sisters-in-law, Byron and Jennifer Johns, of Waynesville, Kyle and Anita Johns, of Waynesboro, a sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Glynn Harper, of Waynesville, also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Sunday evening (Aug. 5, 2012) starting at 6 P.M. from the Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta. Funeral services for Mr. Johns will be Monday afternoon (Aug. 6, 2012) at 2P.M. from The Waynesville Missionary Baptist Church in Waynesville with Rev. Emory Wilson and Rev. Joe Carr officiating. Pallbearers will be Royce Proctor, Tony Smith, John Smith, Norman Blood, Roy Ditmer, Kip Goodbread, Kirk Broughton and David Butler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Waynesville Missionary Baptist Church Youth Group. Interment will follow in The Mount Olive Cemetery in Waynesville.
