Ernest Wayne Blount, Sr.

Hortense – Ernest Wayne Blount, Sr., 71, of Hortense passed away Friday morning (October 2, 2020) at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA his parents were Tom Blount and Lillie Blount. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Jean Williams Blount; and 5 siblings, Nellie, Franklin, Robert, Dorothy and Archie.

Ernest retired after 20 years from the City of Brunswick Waste and Water Treatment Department and served in the United States Army. He was a member of First Wesleyan Baptist Church in Brunswick and loved watching football, fishing and wood working.

He is survived by his 3 children, Ernest Wayne Blount, Jr. (Stacy), Robert Earl Blount, Sr. (Bonnie) and Amanda Jean Blount Crews (Sean) all of Hortense; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a sister, Delores Blount of Jacksonville, FL; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family asked that you follow the rules for social distancing. Also, if anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services, the family understands and ask you to be in prayer for our loved ones.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday (October 13, 2020) starting at 11am at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday (October 13, 2020) at 12PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Sis. Beverly Cooler officiating. Burial will follow in Lane Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Blount, Sr., Ernest Blount, Jr., Sean Britt, Ryan Blount, and Ernest Blount, III.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
