Ervin John Hughes

Prosperity, SC- Ervin J. Hughes, 88, of Prosperity, SC died Friday evening (August 8, 2014) at Southeast Georgia Health System after a brief illness. Born in Toledo, OH his parents were John & Ida Zitlow Hughes. Ervin was a fireman for Pure oil Company and was of the Baptist faith. He loved hunting, fishing, joking around, and eating steak. Also he enjoyed watching his favorite shows, Gunsmoke, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. Survivors include his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ervin J. "Jack" Hughes, Jr.(Connie) of North Wood, OH and David Hughes (Karolee) of Fortson, GA.; 8 grandchildren, Jason Hughes, Jennifer Medina, Caleb Hughes, Addie Newcomer, Ellie Grace Hughes, Gabriel Hughes, Hannah Hughes, and Lillie Hughes; 6 great grandchildren, Micah Medina, Joshua Medina, Jaylee Medina, J.J. Hughes, Kennedy Hughes, and Abel Newcomer; a special caregiver, Loretta Waters of Raybon; and also several other relatives. A memorial service will be held Monday evening (August 11, 2014) at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David Hughes officiating. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
