Nahunta- Cecil "Eugene" Wildes, 83 of Nahunta, passed away Wednesday (October 10, 2012) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Folkston, GA. His parents were Milton and Georgia Harris Wildes. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Owen Milton and James Franklin Wildes; a sister, Betty Lashley; 2 step-brothers, Willie and Calvin Johns. Eugene was an Army Corporal in the Korean war, and also worked as a Machine Operator for the Charlton County Road Department. He was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church, and loved gardening, yardwork, and going to auctions. Survivors include his special friend and companion of 19 years, Betty Mae Johns, of Nahunta; 9 children and their spouses, Lamar Wildes, of Macon, Larry Wildes, of Byron, GA, Patricia (Alviah) Burkett, of Douglas, Patsy (Wayne) Waters, of Waycross, David (Kim) Johns, of Waycross, James "Juk"(Syble) Johns, of Nahunta, Robert (Lisa) Johns, of Folkston, Scottie (Dawn) Johns, of Hahira, GA, and Wanda Mae (Jim) Benson, of Blackshear; 21 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Carrie Mae Reid, of Macon, GA. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (October 12, 2012) at 6PM, at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday morning (October 13, 2012) at 10AM, at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. Cliff Adams officiating. Pallbearers will be C.L. Lewis, Ronnie Wainright, Albert Wildes, Jason Thrift, Jeffery Johns and Farley Lee. Honorary Pallbearer will be Rick Haas. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery.
