Evelyn Stephens

Waycross-On Sunday, May 11, 2014 Evelyn Aldridge Stephens, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend went to be with the Lord. She was surrounded by her family and friends at her residence. Mrs. Stephens was born in Waycross, Georgia on July 22, 1927. She made her home in Waycross for numerous years before moving to Brantley County. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred (Steve) Stephens. She is survived by her son, Kris Stephens and his wife, Ginger of Brantley County; a granddaughter, Brandi Stephens of Brantley County; a grandson, Scott Stephens of Florence, South Carolina. She has a step-daughter, Penny Davis and her husband, Larry of Waycross and 2 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Mrs. Stephens was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Christian Church of Waycross where she used to teach the woman's bible study class. Mrs. Stephens graduated from Waycross High School. She attended technical college and became an echo tech. She retired from Satilla Regional in 1981. Mrs. Stephens was a light in the lives of the many people she touched. To the many family and friends she left behind she will always be "Guiney". A memorial celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Waycross. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday night at the residence at 87 Pleasant Drive, Waycross, GA in Brantley County. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Heartland Hospice 664 Scranton Rd, Unit 103, Brunswick, GA 31520. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
