Waynesville-Fred Byron Browning, 71 of Waynesville, passed away Sunday (June 16, 2013) at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Ludowici, GA., his parents were Oliver C. and Theda L. Fountain Browning. He is also preceded by his wife, Della R. Browning. Fred worked as a maintenance man at LaQuinta Inn for many years. He attended Sterling Church of God, and loved to coach Little League Baseball. Survivors include his two children and their spouses, Richard Browning (Renee), of Brunswick, and Tina Neesmith (Bobby), of Waynesville; 6 grandchildren, Ryan Browning, Jennifer Kasper, Shannon Stephens, Jesse Nettles, Brittany Wells, and Zach Neesmith; 8 great grandchildren, Jared Mobley, Shaelyn Stephens, Dominick Stephens, Cameron Kasper, Benjamin Kasper, Brandon Kasper, Jayden Kasper, and Landon Kasper; a brother, James Browning, of Darien; 3 sisters, Betty Schmid (Ron), of Darien, Elizabeth Poppell Williams (Leonard), of Darien, and Carolyn Rountree (Billy), of Springfield, GA. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Wednesday (June 19, 2013) from 6PM-9PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday (June 20, 2013) at 11AM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Gene McDuffie and Mr. Randy Poppell officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Browning, Jesse Nettles, Shawn Kasper, Tim Burkhead, Jr., Randy Poppell, and Tim Burkhead, Sr. The family would also like to give a special thanks to his nurse and special friend Jill Brand, and all of the staff of Heartland Hospice.
