Brunswick – George “Davey” Able, 66, of Brunswick passed away Friday morning (July 9, 2021) at Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Mary’s after an extended illness.
Born in Salem, NJ his parents were Leon Ray Able and Mattie Lou Nolen Able. He was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, McKenzie Middleton and a niece, Mattie Herrin.
Davey was a retired Boilermaker for the local #26 and local #199 and served in the United States Army. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and loved his family.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Lora Able Thornton (Ron) and Rhea Able all of Hoboken, Lisa Garbutt (Mark) of Sterling, and Lulu Able (Pete) of Nahunta; 8 grandchildren, Chevi Middleton (Jennifer), George Middleton (Emily), Garett Able, Leland Anderson, Mallory Crosby, Lydia Anderson, Sawyer Garbutt, and River Garbutt; 5 great grandchildren, Elsie Middleton, Jeb Middleton, Harper Able, Addie Middleton, and Hudson Middleton; 2 brothers, Leon Able (Stephanie) of Brunswick and Greg Able (Cheryl) of Atkinson; 4 sisters, Linnie Fountain of Waynesville, Nina Able of Hoboken, Jody Edgy of Virginia, and Louise Able of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening (July 11, 2021) from 6pm – 8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing, also face mask are highly recommended at the service. Anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the service the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
