George Robert Kirkland, 77, of Waynesville, GA died Tuesday (Dec. 15, 2009) at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Coffee Co. GA, his parents were Ben Kirkland and Courtney Johnson Kirkland Spivey. Also, his wife Shirley A. Kirkland, a Great Grandson, Preston Dinsbeer, 3 Brothers, Buck, J.H. and Daniel Kirkland and a Sister, Sarah Harper, preceded him in death. George served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, he was a welder with B & W for 20 years and a member of Gopher Ridge Hunting Club. He was a avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time with family and friends. He attended the Church of God. He is survived by his 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Leann Horton (Fiance, Daniel Moore) of Waynesville and Shannon and Ramon Roman of Waycross; 11 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren plus 2 on the way; 2 Brothers and sisters-in-laws, Ed and Opal Kirkland of Illinois and Noah and Carolyn Kirkland of Hilliard, FL; 3 Sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruby Burch of Douglas; Eva Pullen of Jacksonville, FL and Penny Mae and Jim Jones of Donalsonville, GA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Friday evening(December 18, 2009) from 6 until 9 p.m. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral services will be Saturday (Dec. 19, 2009) at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ion Johns and Rev. Leon Wilson officiating. Burial will followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Waynesville. Pallbearers will be Lewis Moore, IV, Ronnie Horton, Jr., John Flanders, Ben Flanders, Jr., Daniel Moore and Robbie Hall.
