Waynesville – George Walter Dixon, Sr., 85, of Waynesville passed away Wednesday evening (April 8, 2020) at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Blackshear, GA his parents were Joe Allen Dixon and Evelyn Roberson Dixon. He is also preceded in death by a son, George W. “Ricky” Dixon, Jr.; and also several brothers and sisters.
George was a retired supervisor from Interstate Paper mill and had owned his own lawn service for many years. He loved to be outside and thought there was nothing better than a Snapper lawn mower. He also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and was an avid attendee of the Golden Isles Speedway and Waycross Motor Speedway where he enjoyed watching dirt track racing.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Foreman Dixon of Waynesville; his son, Ted Dixon of Waynesville; 3 grandchildren, Amy Dixon Roberts (Jim) of Midway,GA, Holly Dixon Legette (Josh) of Summerville, SC and Jobe Dixon of Wayensville; 4 great grandchildren, Kasity Dixon Lindsey (Talon), Skylar Roberts, Brooklyn Legette, and Nathaniel Legette; a great great grandchild, Evelyn Lindsey; 2 brothers, Truman Dixon of Waycross, GA and Roswell Dixon of Lakeland, FL ; 2 sisters, Mary Jo Dixon of Lakeland, FL and Clarice Dixon of Manor, GA; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Due to COVID-19, the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
