Gertrude Morgan Knox

July 10, 1941 — March 27, 2012

Nahunta-Fannie Gertrude "Gertie" Morgan Knox, 70 of Nahunta, died Tuesday morning (March 27, 2012) at her residence following an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, Ga. Her parents were the late Otis and Martha Lyons Morgan. She is also preceded in death by her husband, David Junior Knox; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald and Clarice Knox, and also an infant son; 3 grandchildren, Eric Johns, Joshua Knox, and Christopher Horne; 4 sisters, Verona Crews, Sarah Harris, Myrtle Lambert, and Dorothy Morgan; and 1 brother, J.L. Morgan. Gertie was employed with the Brantley County School Board in the cafeteria. She was a member of Lulaton Baptist Church, she loved fishing and spending time with her family. Survivors include 14 children and their spouses, Dell and Steven Canaday, of St. George, Brenda and Clyde Johnson, of Blackshear, Sabrina Jourdan and Abe Flowers, Lannis and Ladonna Maddox, both of Nahunta, David Knox, Wayne and Gail Knox, both of Brunswick, Donald Knox, Gene and Diane Knox, both of Nahunta, Ricky and Trixie Knox, of Manor, Earl and Trina Knox, Nelda and Bob Manning, Ann and Dennis Horne, all of Kingsland, Trish Trouille and Major Strickland, of Folkston, and Joe Knox, of Nahunta; 45 grandchildren; 73 great grandchildren. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (March 29, 2012) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Friday afternoon (March 30, 2012) at 2PM at Lulaton Baptist Church with Rev. Monroe Gill, Rev. Ricky Knox, and Rev. Gene Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery, Lulaton. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family would also like to give a special thanks to the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
