Harold L. Clark

Mr. Harold Lewis Clark "Iron Man", 77 of Waynesville, passed away Monday evening (December 15, 2014) at his residence with his loving family by his side. He is a native of Millen, GA and the son of Eugene and Blanche Clark. He was also preceded in death by a son, Greg Thomas; and three sisters. He left his earthly home after a lengthy illness. He served his country nine years in the Army National Guard. Harold retired from Babcock and Wilcox in Brunswick, GA as a boilermaker and Truckstops of America as an ASE Certified Master Diesel Mechanic. He was a member of the Boilermaker International Brotherhood Union, Local # 901, and a member of Waynesville Baptist Church. He was instrumental in building and maintaining the original Golden Isles Speedway under the ownership of S.O. Jenkins. He was an avid mechanic, gardener, Ford Lover and member of the Democratic Party. He was known in his community as one of the most giving men of his time, talent, and possessions. Harold was a loving husband of 49 years, a caring and dedicated daddy to his children and a devoted papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be forever missed and leaves a void that will never be filled. Survivors include his loving wife, Lonnie Clark, of Waynesville; 4 children, Darla Smith (John), of Waynesville, Gina Gibson, also of Waynesville, Linda Powell (George), of Metter, GA, and Bobby Turner (Christine), of Nahunta, GA; 6 grandchildren, Sara Gibson, Autsy Powell, Erica Smith, CPL Rance Powell, of The USMC, Erin Sikes, and Shannon Powell; 3 great grandchildren, Kayleigh Mae Gibson, Layton and Peyson Sikes. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (December 16, 2014) starting at 5PM at his residence. 1728 Stafford Rd. Waynesville, GA. 31566. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles in memory of Mr. Clark. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
