Harris Rex Anderson, 84, of Hortense who had lived a long and happy life passed away peacefully at his home early Friday morning (June 18, 2010) after an extended illness. Born in Okeechobee, FL his parents were Rexford Anderson and Edith Douglas Anderson Sheffield. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Gunter Anderson and two brothers Millard Anderson and Edward Anderson. Harris served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and he was a concrete mason and was the owner of Anderson Construction. Also he was a past member of Lulaton Baptist Church. Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Anderson of Hortense and Bruce & Robin Anderson of Okeechobee, FL; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi & Robert Dix of Ft. Myers, FL, Hazel & Larry Dusenbury of Nahunta, Robin McDaniel of Atkinson and Tracy Anderson & Joe Simmons of Asbury Park, NJ; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis & Betty Shenefield of Nahunta; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday evening (June 21, 2010) from 6 -8P.M. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon (June 22, 2010) at 4PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Manning and Bishop Hugh Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery, Lulaton with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Richard Anderson, Bruce Anderson, Danny Anderson Robert Dix, Larry Dusenbury and Joe Simmons.
