Helen "Vera" Louise Blocker

Fernandina Beach – Helen “Vera” Louise Griffin Blocker, 95, of Fernandina Beach, FL. passed away Friday, (July 21, 2023) at her daughter’s residence in Kingsland, Ga. after an extended illness.

Born in Racepond, GA. her parents were Onimus Melvin Griffin and Alma Medlin Griffin. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Louie Blocker; 2 daughters, Helen Dale Deonas and Jeannie Blocker Adams.

Vera was a homemaker and loved gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Annie Sue Underwood (Lamar) of Kingsland; 5 grandchildren, Julie Spires, Amanda Curry (Brandon), Jamie Deomas (Janet), Kristy Deomas, and JeAnna Lane (Daniel); 2 great grandchildren, Zachary Spires (Samantha), and Quinn Spires (Kort); 1 brother, Coleman Griffin; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Hazel Lee of Hoboken and Corene Lewis (James) of Dublin; 1 son-in-law, Nick Deomas. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday morning (July 25, 2023) starting at 10AM at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning (July 25, 2023) at 11AM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Bro. Lamar Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Curry, Nick Deomas, Jamie Deomas, Michael Griffin, Troy Griffin, Jr., and Jeffrey Griffin.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
