Ivey Johns

Nahunta – Ivey Johns, 87, of Nahunta passed away Saturday morning (January 30, 2021) at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Nahunta, GA his parents were Perry Johns and Mattie Moore Johns. He is also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Earl Johns, Jerry Johns, Harvey Johns, and Horace Johns; and 2 sisters, Mona Rose Warner and Louise Harris.

Ivey was a retired supervisor for the Iron Workers Union and a member of Hickox Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Lewis Johns of Nahunta; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, William Jeffrey Johns (Theresa) and Gary David Johns (Felecia) all of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Holly Woodruff (Rev. Robert “Chip”) of Hickory Bluff; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Perry Johns (Janet) of Tampa, FL; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A funeral service will be held Saturday morning (February 20, 2021) at 11am at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Robert “Chip” Woodruff and Rev. Jamie Giddens officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday starting at 10AM at Hickox Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Josh Woodruff, Jesse Johns, David Johns, Daniel Johns, Jeremiah Johns, and Eddie Florey.
