Waverly – Jack Leonard “Tinker” Horne, Sr., 73, of Waverly passed away Monday evening (August 14, 2023) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Folkston, GA his parents were Bernie Horne and Oveida Thomas Horne. He is also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert Horne, Mallory Horne and Richard Horne; and a sister, Elaine Horne.
Jack was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Scott Bridge Company and a member of Blythe Island Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, working and most of all making his children and grandchildren work.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Horne of Waverly; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack Horne, Jr. (Pam) of Waverly; a daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa Snook (Ashley) of NC; 3 grandchildren, Toby Rotz of NC, Morgan Horne of TX and Cassidy Horne of GA; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday (August 18, 2023) starting at 10am at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Friday morning (August 18, 2023) at 11am at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Bickley Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Horne, Jr, Vanessa Snook, Ashley Snook, Cassidy Horne, Mark Bunkley, Carl Hickson, Sammy Shirah, Lee Marchant, and Darrell Daniels.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Bridge Employees & their families, Allen Stone and Roy Keene.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
