James Arthur Procter

Nahunta – James Arthur “Jimmy” Procter, 79, of Nahunta was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening (May 22, 2020) at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness.

Born in Pontiac, MI his parents were Luther Dunn Procter and Berdie Mae Barrett O’Steen. He is also preceded in death by his father who raised him, Charles O’Steen.

Jimmy retired from Jacksonville Electrical Authority (JEA) and served in the United States Army for 22 years. He served during the Vietnam war, where he received The Purple Heart. Jimmy was a member of Grace community Church where he worshiped the Lord with his wife, Janet who he cherished and adored with every breath he took. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed caring for his animals and tinkering around his farm.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Janet Elaine Tennison Procter of Nahunta; 3 sons, Eric Procter & wife DeeDee of Auburn, KY, Timmy Tennison & Joy Lansford of Jacksonville, FL and Bryant Tennison & Tracy Stafford of Jacksonville, FL; 11 grandchildren, Jacob Procter, Josh Procter, Daniel Tennison, Calab Tennison, Kyle Wray, Makayla Tennison, Mark Tennison, Skyler Stafford, Jett Stafford, Heather Lansford and Jessica Lansford; 10 great grandchildren; and also several other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the Family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A memorial service will be held Monday afternoon (May 25, 2020) at 12PM at Grace Community Church in Hoboken with Rev. Jason Marden officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Southeast Georgia Cancer Society.
