James 'Franklin' Depratter

September 22, 1949 — August 24, 2014

James "Franklin" DePratter, Owner and Operator of DePratter Wrecker Service, Brantley County, Nahunta, Georgia, passed away at his residence on Sunday, August 24, 2014, after an extended illness. Mr. DePratter was the son of the late Harry and Laura Faye Lewis DePratter. He owned and operated DePratter Wrecker Service for over 40 years. Mr. DePratter was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ray DePratter; step sister Donna Kay Johns. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Brian and Christy DePratter, former Wife, Hazel DePratter, his brother Lamar DePratter and sister-in-law Ann DePratter, his Aunt, Alice Sue DePratter Crews, his Uncle Alton DePratter, four grandchildren Jay, Joey, Kaity, and Kelly Depratter, step-sister, Deborah McCarthy, step brother Darryl Dixon, and many, many friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday (August 26, 2014) starting at 6PM at Hickox Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (August 27, 2014) at 2PM at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Johns, Bro. David Herrin, and Bro. Larry Johns officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Strickland, David Stallings, Mark Stone, Mark Gibson, Gene Solano, and John Simpson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Butch Miller, Dewayne Thomas, Hugh Johns, Harold Johnson, Alan Strickland, Robbie Cleland, Randall Steedley, Jimmy Woodard, Jason Dixon, Tony Ham, Tim Crews, Johnny Crosby, Brenda Crosby, Jill Brand, and Larry Herrin. He will be greatly missed by his family friends and community. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
