James Grady Kersey

James “Grady” Kersey, 70 of Waynesville, passed away early Tuesday morning (September 5, 2017) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA., his parents were J. Marion Kersey and Mary Johns Kersey. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Merritt and Elizabeth Kersey.

Mr. Kersey worked many years as a roofer for Herman Day Roofing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, football, and racing.

Survivors include his very special friend, Ellie Wilson, of Waynesville; 4 children, Kenneth Clay Kersey, Marion Johnson, Cindy and James Lane, all of Brunswick, and Amber Nicole Lawrence, of Hoboken; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; mother of his children and a dear friend, Linda Brantley, of Brunswick; a brother, Ronald Kersey, of Brunswick; nephews, Chris Keller (Glenda), Chester Keller, Robert Keller (Lynn), all of Brunswick, and Ronald E. Kersey, Jr., of Savannah; also several cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday morning (September 8, 2017) at 11AM at Frye Funeral Home with Bishop Raymond Willis officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, from 10AM-11AM at Frye Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronald E. Kersey, Jr., Clayton Hill, James Hill, William Googe, Lee Keller, and Christopher Keller.

Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the Funeral Home Friday by 10:30AM.
