James Harold Chandler, Sr.

James "Joe" Harold Chandler, Sr. , 72, of Woodbine died Saturday evening (July 31, 2010) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness. Born in Charleston, Mississippi his parents were Berry Edwin and Lula Mae Lowe Chandler. He is also preceded in death by a son, Banner Griffin and 2 brothers, Cliff & Clyde Chandler. Joe was a power generation specialist for Kings bay VT Group and was of the Baptist faith. Also he was a honorary member of the "The Swamp Rats", loved drag racing or any type of racing and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include, his wife, Anita Louise Carter Chandler of Woodbine; 4 sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Chandler, Anthony & Tammy Chandler, Andrew Chandler and James Chandler, Jr. all of Woodbine; a honorary-son and daughter-in-law, Danny "Diddle" & Cassie Jewell of Woodbine; 6 daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa Chandler of Oxford, Mississippi, Carla & James Robertson of Texas, Wanda Jo Chandler of Woodbine, Joyce Ann Chandler and Lou An & Shawn Renner both of Arizona and Tina Chandler of Woodbine; 34 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin & Mary Chandler of Oxford, Mississippi; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Joyce & Tom Hall of Water Valley, Mississippi, Mary Elizabeth Morgan of Chandler, Arizona and Katherine & Floyd Reed of Texas; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (August 3, 2010) starting at 6:00PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A graveside service will be held Wednesday morning (August 4, 2010) at 11:00AM at Colesburg Cemetery in Woodbine with Rev. Tom Walker officiating. Pallbearers will be Donny Pearson, Jeff Day, Joe Kilgore, Dan Menard, Glenn Strefling and Joe Wright. Honorary pallbearers with be members of "The Swamp Rats", J.D. Noyes and Timmy Carter. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
