James 'Jim' Glenn Starling

Hortense-James Glenn Starling, 88 of Hortense, passed away Tuesday (May 5, 2015) at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, GA. ,following an extended illness. Born in Tampa, FL., his parents were Charles Starling, Sr. and Clara Jones Dunn. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia McGlamery; a stepson, Layton Smith; a grandson, Timmy Grandville; a sister, Aunt Minnie; and a brother, Charles Starling, Jr. Jim was a member of Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church. He worked many years for Rayonier as a Mechanical Engineer. He enjoyed flying, fishing, and woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Raulerson Smith Starling, of Hortense; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny Starling (Marilyn), of Tampa, FL., James Patrick "Jimbo" Starling (Bonnie), of Tampa, FL., Terry Starling (Donna), also of Tampa; two daughters, Glenda Spencer and Cheryl McCuller, both of Tampa; Stepchildren, LaCount Smith (Beth), and Pamela Smith Jacobs, all of Hortense; three grandchildren, Vinnie Crews (Darren), of Twin Rivers, Jerri Foster (Larry), and Liston Jacobs, all of Hortense; four great grandchildren, Annie Jacobs, of Hortense, Kaylin, Mason, and Noah Crews, all of Twin Rivers; and his first wife and mother of his children, Patricia Edith Alverez. Also several nieces, nephews, and other grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held Friday evening (May 8, 2015) at 5PM at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Hilton Morgan and Chris Gallops officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimbo Starling, Terry Starling, LaCount Smith, Larry Foster, Lawrence Raulerson, and Dave Bragg. Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church Friday by 4:30PM.
