James Landon Morgan

April 8, 1939 — July 25, 2011

Nahunta- Mr. James Landon "J.L. Morgan, 72, of Nahunta died early Monday morning (July 25, 2011) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after a brief illness. Born in Hoboken, GA his parents were Ottis and Martha Lyons Morgan. He is also preceded in death by 3 sons, and 4 sisters, Verona Crews, Sarah Harris, Myrtis Lambert and Dorothy Morgan. J. L. served in the United States Army and was a welder for Varns Wood Products. Also he was a member of Raybon Church of God of Prophecy and loved farming, fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Lelia Horne Morgan of Nahunta; 5 children and their spouses, Jennifer Louise & Jaime Gonzalez of Nahunta, Amanda Morgan of Douglas, Dean Horne, Deon & Katy Horne and Dona & Jason Long all of Nahunta; 13 grandchildren, Dalia & Augustine Gonzalez both of Nahunta, Kendal, Preston & Jayda Morgan all of Douglas, Kaela, Skyler & Grayson Horne, Philip, Marc, Dyona & Nicolas Horne, Bobby & Roseann Smith all of Nahunta; a sister, Gertrude "Gertie" Knox of St. George; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (July 26, 2011) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon (July 27, 2011) at 2PM at Raybon Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Bruce Dean, Rev. William Beasley and Mr. Ronnie Sharpe, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Gibson, David Herrin, Eric Dixon, Kerry Mathie, Connie Morgan, Jimmy Byrd, Geral Roberson and Dan Moody. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
