James Owen Chesser

Nahunta – James Owen Chesser, 76, of Nahunta passed away Friday morning (April 29, 2016) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Born in Nahunta, GA his parents were Fred and Pearlie Mae Jacobs Chesser. He is also preceded in death by his 4 brothers, Charlie Chesser, Morris Chesser, Wayne Chesser and an Infant Boy; and 3 sisters, Marian Jewel Chesser, Lottie Jeanette Chesser, and Katherine Chesser.

James was a welder for Babcock & Wilcox and of the Baptist faith. He also was a member of Garden City Church in Jacksonville, FL and loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching NASCAR.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jamie & Kelly Chesser of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Fawn & Shenan Foster of Hortense; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Cliatt, Conner Johnson, Millie Chesser , and Mallory Chesser; a great grandchild, Addie Cliatt; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin & Claudine Chesser of Ludowici and Roger & Kathy Chesser of Nahunta; 5 sisters and a brother-in-law, Lucy Dowling of Alma, Kathleen Ashburn of Callahan, Betty Sage of Nahunta, Carolyn & Joe Shepler of Nahunta, and Ramona Moody of Nahunta; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening (May 1, 2016) starting at 6pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Monday morning (May 2, 2016) at 11am at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Wilson and Rev. Larry Altman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Chesser, Chad Chesser, Bart Moody, Browning Raulerson, Ashton Chesser, and Brian Herrin.
