Nahunta- James Robert "Bob" Palmer, 70, of Nahunta died Saturday night (January 11, 2014) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Patmos, GA his parents were Benjamin & Melba Champion Palmer. He was a heavy equipment operator for Spirit Construction and loved hunting and fishing. Bob "Pa" spent most of his time with his best little buddy Brayden "Bray", who has softened his heart and made many memories that will never be forgotten. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Helen LaJean White Palmer of Nahunta;4 Daughters and Sons-in-law, Diane & Jop Durrence of Smyrna, Denise & Mike Moody of Waycross, Pam & Fred Gregg of Leesburg, FL and Priscilla Sheppard Gibson of Hickox; 7 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; special grandson, Brayden Robert Gibson of Hickox; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Jerry & Linda Palmer and Claude Palmer all of Atlanta; a sister, Irene Hawkins of Attapulgus, GA; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday evening (January 13, 2014) from 6-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon (January 14, 2014) at 2PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Carson and Rev. Larry Altman officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Hickox. Pallbearers will be Fred Gregg, Rocky Dixon, Colby Driggers, Steven Chaney, David Thomas and Steven Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Tallevast, Levi Driggers, Brayden Robert Gibson, and Ely Yarbrough. Arrangements will be with Frye Funeral Home , Nahunta.
