James Williams Baker

April 24, 1933 — July 18, 2012

Waynesville-James "Jim" William Baker, 79 of Waynesville died early Wednesday morning (July 18, 2012) at Southeast Georgia Health System following a brief illness. Born in Atlanta, Ga, his parents were Eddie McCoy, Sr., and Louella Emmett Baker. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Eddie McCoy Baker, Jr. Jim was a member of Blythe Island Baptist Church, and he loved fishing, bowling, shooting guns, his grandkids, the braves and playing the lottery. Jim served in the Army and the Air Force, he also worked for many years as a security officer for Allegiance. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lisa S. Baker, of Waynesville; 2 children and their spouses, Michele and Tracy Miller, of Statesboro, and Sarah and Bryan Bell, of Darien; 2 grandchildren, Jordan and Ty Cowart; a brother, Charlie Baker, of Brunswick; a sister-in-law, Sherry Baker, of Brunswick. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A memorial service will be held Friday evening (July 20, 2012) at 7PM at Sterling Church of God, Brunswick with Rev. Larry Daughtry officiating. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. In lieu of flowers or,in addition to the family will be accepting donations to help off set burial cost.
