Nahunta – Jay Phillip Prescott, 51, of Nahunta passed away Thursday afternoon (September 1, 2016) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Jesup, GA his parents are Wanda Jacobs Smith of Nahunta and the late Julian Wiley Prescott. He is also preceded in death by his half sister, Lisa Marie Smith; 2 aunts, Betty Wilson and Helen Wainright; and his paternal grandmother, Geneva Wainright Prescott.
Phillip worked for the City of Nahunta and was of the Baptist faith. He was a 1983 graduate of Brantley County High School and loved his family and friends, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR.
Survivors include his mother, Wanda Smith of Nahunta; a son, Joshua Cody Woodard of FL; 2 half sisters, Sabrina Prescott and Samantha Prescott both of Folkston; maternal grandmother, Laverne Jacobs of Nahunta; aunt, Phyllis May of Jesup; uncle, Ronnie Jacobs of Nahunta; nieces and nephews, Miranda May, Debra Dean, David Kyler Hayes, Jr, Montana Crews, Kason Denver Smith; special friend, Paul Smith of Hickox; and also several cousin and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon (September 10, 2016) at 2PM at Raybon Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Bruce Dean and Rev. Ion Johns officiating.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
