Jerry Dennis Gailey, Jr.

Hortense – Jerry Dennis Gailey, Jr., 66, of Hortense passed away Tuesday evening (March 9, 2021) at Southeast Georgia Health System after a brief illness.

Born in Waycross, GA his parents were Jerry Dennis Gailey and Ida Lee Dixon Box. He is also preceded in death by his stepfather, James E. Box.

Jerry was a retired scale operator for Brunswick Cellulose and attended Bay Harbor Brantley Church. He loved spending time with his family and traveling with Terry Rigdon and the band. Jerry also loved his dog “Girlfriend”, his buggy, hunting, fishing, sports and anything outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Wanda Phillips Gailey of Hortense; 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry D. Gailey, III (Nicole) of White Oak, Matt Gailey of Atlanta and Shawn Gailey of Vidalia; a special grandson, Drayton Gailey; multiple grandchildren; several great grandchildren; his sister, Lynn Barber of Blackshear; also several other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask, are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A graveside service will be held Saturday morning (March 13, 2021) at 11am at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Gill officiating. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service starting at 10:30am.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Brantley County EMS and First Responders.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
