Jerry Van Herrin

Jerry was born in Raybon, Georgia on August 31, 1942 to the late Cecil Van Buren Herrin and Vera Louvade Robinson Herrin. His paternal grandparents were William Henry and Mamie Elizabeth (Highsmith) Herrin and his maternal grandparents were Francis Donald (Frank) and Nora Belle (Lewis) Robinson.
He was a graduate of Nahunta High School Class of 1960 and graduated from South Georgia Trade & Vocational School in Americus, GA in Electronics Technology.
He enlisted in the Air Force and served in Vietnam and received the Air Force Commendation Medal. After leaving the Air Force he worked for CSX and retired in 2005 from CSX Transportation as a Communication Technician.
Jerry’s hobbies were genealogy, music, photography, electronics, computers and watching TV.
Jerry attended the Raybon Advent Christian Church.
He is survived by many cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday (May 21, 2022) at 2PM at Raybon Advent Christian Church with Rev. Hilton Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, at the Church.
Burial will follow in Rob Lewis Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Herrin, Joe Jacobs, Jamie Chesser, Bill Herrin, Timmy Herrin, Chuck Connors, and Trey Keene.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
