Jesse Bennett Thomas

Nahunta-Jesse Bennett Thomas, 77 of Nahunta, passed away early Monday morning (February 4, 2013) at Southeast Georgia Health System following an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, GA his parents were Banner Bennett Thomas and Ophelia Lewis Thomas. He is also preceded in death by two children, Vanessa Thomas and Doyle Thomas, and a brother, Perry Thomas. Jesse worked as an Auctioneer, and served in the United States Army, and in the Korean War. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Jesse was a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Frances Morgan Thomas, of Nahunta; a son and his girlfriend, Dewayne and Beverly Thomas, of Nahunta; a daughter, Donna T. Rowell, of Nahunta; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Dasha and Lorne Johns, Dustin and Lindsay Thomas, Jessica Thomas Johns, Doyle and Link Smart, Cash and Melisa Thomas, Kerriann Rowell, and Kaleb and Kailee Rowell; 11 great grandchildren, Denver Thomas, J.T. Johns, Dawson, Mason, and Kamryn Thomas, Jacey and Erica Johns, Keaton Pittman, Krista Smart, Caiden Thomas, and Knox Bauer; 3 step great grandchildren, Zach Johns, Lauren Johns, and Linton Smart; a step great great grandchild, Reese Johns; and a sister, Beverly Ann Roberson, of Waycross. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday afternoon (February 6, 2013) at 2PM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Hilton Morgan and Rev. Bruce Dean officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing our online registry at fryefh.com.
