Blackshear – Jessie “Papa J” James Lee, 49 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning (September 25, 2021) at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville after a brief illness.
Born in Waycross, GA his parents are Emma Ruth Crews Lee of Hoboken and the late James Wade Lee. He is also preceded in death by 4 grandchildren, Baby Martinez, Daxton Lee, Isabella Espana and Tatum Lee.
Jessie was a boilermaker for Local Union # 26 Plant Vogtle and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, golfing, fishing and was a grill master. He enjoyed drag racing, going to the Gator Nationals and NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife, Christy Lee of Blackshear; 3 sons and a daughter, Dalton Lee (Brittany), Koty Piercy and Jacob Piercy both of Hoboken; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley Espana (Jesus), Logan Martinez (Obed) all of Hoboken and Adri Henderson (Joey) of Nahunta; 10 grandchildren, Pricilla Martinez, Gracie Espana, Caydon Latham, Cambralee Griffin, Chevy Griffin, Haydin Espana, Carter Lee, Lucia Martinez, Cohen Henderson and Esteban Martinez; his mother, Ruthie Lee of Hoboken; a sister and brother-in-law, Dustie McMillan (Jonathan) of Hoboken; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon (September 30, 2021) from 3:00pm -3:30pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A graveside service will be held Thursday afternoon (September 30, 2021) at 4pm at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. D.L. Mercer officiating.
Pallbearers will be Christy Lee, Dalton Lee, Ashley Espana, Logan Martinez, Koty Piercy, Adri Henderson, Jacob Piercy and Jonathan Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be the Boilermakers of Local Union #26 and Plant Vogtle Unit 3 & 4 Employees.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask, are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
