Nahunta – Jimmy Daniel Steedley, 68, of Nahunta passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon (March 9, 2021) at Memorial Satilla Health after a brief illness.
Born in Jesup, GA his parents were Seward Steedley and Dorothy Mae Harris Steedley. He is also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Merle Scarborough and Jeanette Cato and a brother Julian Steedley.
Jimmy worked in the maintenance department at Laura S. Walker State Park and was a member of Hickox Praise and Worship. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, playing golf, and watching Westerns.
Survivors include his wife of 6yrs, Shirley Herrin Steedley of Nahunta; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda Gibson of Hoboken and Michelle & Eric Quinnelly of Nahunta; 2 stepsons and their spouses, Solomon & Crickett Crews of Nahunta and Jody & Patsy Crews of Hickox; 7 grandchildren, Devon Gibson (Brittany), Erin Crews (Jaylen), Kelsi Crews (Mike), Alyssa Crews, Patience Hunt (Chris), Jessica Ceran (David), and Gage Crews; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Ann Prescott of Jacksonville, FL; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask, are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
A graveside service will be held Friday morning (March 12, 2021) at 11am at Bethlehem Cemetery with Rev. Otis Johns officiating. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service starting at 10:30am.
