Joanne Hiers Mead

Waynesville-Joanne Hiers Mead, 81 of Waynesville, passed away Sunday evening (November 5, 2017) at her residence after a short illness.

Born in Metter,, GA her parents were John Aubrey Hiers and Janie Lou Salter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mead, and a baby brother, Johnny Hiers.

Ms. Mead was a waitress and manager for 21 years for T.A. and was of the Baptist faith. She loved her dogs very much.

Survivors include 3 sons and a spouse, Greg Hiers of Metter, GA., Gerald Sconyers of Waynesville, and John Sconyers (Pauline) of Pembroke; 3 daughters and a spouse, Mary Anne Ewert (Bob) of Clito, Ga., Barbara Bolton of Waynesville, and Kathy Sconyers of Metter; 14 grandchildren, Johnny, Brad, Brandon, Brittany, Michelle, Kimberly, Robbie, Ashley, Jody, Brandi, Sybil, B.J., Allen, and Whitney; 16 great grandchildren, Autumn, Summer, Kaylee, Austin, Wynter, Brittany, Alyssia, Tristan, JJ, Nathan, Destiny, Brianna, Chandler, Logan, Natalie, and Hagen, 2 great great grandchildren, Eli and Gabriella; 1 brother and his spouse, Gene Hiers (Reba) of Macon; 1 sister, Iris Graham of Fort Oglethorpe; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday morning (November 9, 2017) at 11am at King Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating.
