Hortense – Joe Wilbur Moody, 91, of Hortense passed away Thursday evening (August 27, 2020) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Hortense, GA his parents were John Groover Moody and Alma Strickland Moody. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Leona Moody.
Joe retired from CSX Railroad after 46yrs of service as a clerk and was a Charter member of Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He also was Treasurer for 17 years at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church and loved hunting, fishing, and sitting in the swing.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Brauda Moody of Hortense; 4 children and their spouses, Sharon & Mike Carter of Jesup, Sheliah & Paul DeClue of Powder Spring, GA. Ronnie & Amy Brauda of Hortense and Bonnie Herrin of Hickox; 3 grandchildren, Ellis Strickland, Andrew Walker and Lindsay Walker; a great grandchild, Morgan Strickland; his beloved niece and caregiver, Laura Brauda; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the Family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon (August 29, 2020) from 1pm – 2pm at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon (August 29, 2020) at 2pm at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Taylor and Bro. Andy Riggins officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Rivers Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Brauda, Joseph Ellis Strickland, Andrew Walker, Hubert Lane, Dean Lane and Jayden Lane.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. GA.
