Hoboken- John "Billy" Lee, Sr., 74 of Hoboken died Saturday morning (September 19, 2015) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Hoboken, GA his parents were Henry George and Thelma Lane Lee. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ira Wayne Lee and Baby brother Lee; 2 sisters, Ann Thrift and Evon Woodard; 2 sisters-in-law, Alvie Chesser, Janice O'Neal, and Monteen Lee; and 5 brothers-in-law, Jack O'Neal, Donnie Smith, Lawrence Woodard, Don Giddens, and Jerry Banks. Billy was a life long farmer and served in the United States Army and the National Guard, and was also County Commissioner. He also attended the Primitive Baptist Church and was a great carpenter who loved building things. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Batten Lee of Hoboken; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Randy & Peggy Lee of Clinton, Utah, Jabo & Leigh Ann Lee of Nahunta and Little Billy Lee of Hoboken; a daughter, Karen Lee ; 7 grandchildren, Haustin Lee, Bryson Lee, Dalton Lee, Garrett Lee, Kortnee Lee, Skye Lee, and Shelby Lee; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry & Vanessa Lee of Hoboken, Larry & Glenda Lee of Blackshear, George Lee of Thomasville and Mike Lee of Albany; 2 sisters, Nell Giddens of Waycross and Shirlene Banks of Jesup; 3 sisters-in-law and their families, Ruby Lee & Charles Waldron & children, Faye & Lance O'Neal & family, and Edith Smith & family; special aunt, Mayce Lee of Hoboken; special friends, Cindy Altman, Stacy & Shannon Walker and their girls, and Rocky & Dana Carter all of Hoboken; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday evening (September 21, 2015) starting at 6PM at his residence, 134 Palm St. Hoboken, GA 31542. A funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon (September 22, 2015) at 3pm at High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Daniel Drawdy, Elder Freddie Thomas and Elder Eddie Lee officiating. Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Lee, Sidney Lee, Charles Harris, Stacy Walker, Rocky Carter and Roger Crews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 1958, Stanley Edwards, Jimmy Woodard, Wayne & Cindy Altman, Dane Phelps, Ricky Crews, Robert Moore, Hamp Ammons, Hampton Ammons, Robert Thomas and the employees of Heartland Hospice. Pallbearers are asked to be at the church Tuesday by 2:30pm. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.fryefh.com.
