Hortense – John Cary Drury, 70, of Hortense passed away Thursday evening (May 26, 2016) at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta after an extended illness.
Born in Waynesville, GA his parents were Calvin Preston and Ivey Estelle Flowers Drury. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew James Griffin; a brother, James C. Drury; and 2 sisters, Delorese Phillips and Mary Drury.
John was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Brunswick Pulp and served in the United States Army in Vietnam and Cuchi. He was also a member of Trinity Church of Nazarene and loved fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Drury of Hortense; a son, Anthony John Drury of Hortense; a daughter, Donna Drury Griffin (fiancé Chris Hardy) of Nahunta; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred M. Drury of Brookman, GA, Wilmer F. and Joan Drury and Perry P. and Judy Drury all of Hortense; a sister, Elaine Knight of Ludowici; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening (May 29, 2016) from 6pm-8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Monday morning (May 30, 2016) at 10am at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Hinton Johnson and Rev. Tim Hickox officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Waynesville will military honors.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Drury, Chris Drury, Curtis Drury, Junior Drury, Marcus Drury, and Paul Knight.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
