John Larry Herrin

Nahunta - John "Larry" Herrin, 58, of Nahunta passed away Thursday evening (May 28, 2015) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Waycross, GA his parents were William Kay Herrin and Bessie Jane Sapp Herrin. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harry Herrin and David Herrin. Larry worked for CSX Railroad as a Electrical Engineer for many years and of the Baptist faith. He started up the EMS, was a volunteer Firefighter, city council man, and worked with Chambless Funeral Home. He was also Chairman and Member of the Brantley County Rec. Department Board. Larry loved working on the railroad, his children, grandchildren, and all his family were his life. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Crews Herrin, of Hickox; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Randy Herrin, of Jesup (Terry A. Herrin, of Hickox) and Jerold & Danese Herrin of Nahunta; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Ronda Herrin and Buffy Herrin Anderson(Michael) all of Nahunta; 11 grandchildren, Sierra Ingram, Kelsey Ingram, Gage Prescott, Bailley Herrin, Michael Anderson, II, Elizabeth Anderson, Danzlee Herrin, Hunter Hickox, Carson Hickox, Michael Long, Jonathan Holmes, and a granddaughter on the way; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie & Valen Herrin of Duluth, GA; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda & Charles O'Quinn of Folkston, GA; 2 sisters-in-law, Faye Herrin of Woodstock, GA and Dianne Herrin of Peachtree City, GA; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday evening (May 30, 2015) starting at 6 P.M. at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral services for Mr. Larry Herrin will be held Sunday afternoon (May 31, 2015) at 3:30 P.M. at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. E.C. Crews and Rev. Ion John officiating. Burial will follow in Rob Lewis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff O'Quinn, Aubrey Smith, Michael Prescott, Donald Lewis, Michael Long, Jonathan Holmes.
