Mrs. Jonnie "Carmel" Scarborough Thornton, 55, of Hortense died Thursday evening (July 22, 2010) at her residence after a brief illness. Born in Omaha, Nebraska she was the daughter of John Junior and Janice Smith Scarborough. She was a Homemaker and attended The Waynesville Church of God. Carmel, loved spending time with her family and enjoyed horseback riding. Survived by her husband, Joey Thornton, 4-children, Tony Scarborough, of Hortense, Heaven Belazquez (Michael), Shauna Sherrel and Jonathon Sherrel, all of Orlando, Florida, a stepson, Josh Thornton (Rebecca), of Waynesville, a stepdaughter, Tiffani Thornton, of Westminster, Maryland, 8-Grandchildren, 6-sisters, Diane Elizabeth Ragan, of Alabama, Angela Crotty (Richard), of Orlando, Florida, Mary Ann Cherry, of Davenport, Florida, Frances Rogers, of Blackshear, Sue Ann Scarborough and Christina Myhre (Curt), both of Orlando, Florida, 1-brother, John A. Scarborough, of Louisiana, her mother-in-law, Shirleen Thornton, of Waynesville, also several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday afternoon (July 25,2010) at 2:00 P.M. at The Waynesville Church of God with Rev. Ion Johns, Rev. James Evans and Rev. Horace Godfrey officiating.
