Johnny B Kersey

Hortense- Mr. Johnny B. Kersey, 61, of Hortense died Wednesday evening (May 25, 2011) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Jacksonville, FL his parents were Walter Thomas and Janie Elizabeth Warner Kersey. Also he is preceded in death by a son, John Tillman; a granddaughter, Caitilyn Brooker; and several brothers and sisters. Johnny was a diesel mechanic for Poppell & Eller for many years before becoming disabled. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Dale Kersey of Hortense; a son, Richard Kersey of Atkinson; a daughter, Angel Brooker of Atkinson; 6 grandchildren, Ryan Hendrix, Austin Brooker, Alex Brooker, Kandyce Kersey, Amelia Kersey and Madison Kersey; 3 brothers, Matthew Lyons of Offerman, Rochelle Kersey of Atkinson and Noah Kersey of Brunswick; 5 sisters, Penny Sue Elliot of Brunswick, Teai Crosby of Waynesville, Juanita Drury of Brunswick, Leona Lynn of Poppelleville and Sybil Young of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening (May 27, 2011) from 6PM- Until at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon (May 28, 2011) at 2PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.
