Hickox- Johnnie Lee Tripp, 77, of Hickox died Tuesday afternoon (March 22, 2011) in a boating accident in Brantley County. Born in Eastman, GA his parents were Joseph Berry and Mary Peacock Tripp. Johnnie was a retired welder for B&W and a member of Hickox Baptist Church in Hickox. He loved fishing, arts & crafts, he also loved people, farming, & gardening. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Monie Lou Tripp, of Hickox; 3 children and their spouses, Merrell & Will Padgett of Nahunta, GA, Myra & Mitch Martin of Oakland, Tennessee, & Doug Tripp of Waycross; 4 grandchildren, Paul Dowling, Becky Knight, Dustin Martin and Kristen Martin;1 great grandchild, Cara Ann Knight; 3 sisters, Annell Taylor, Wynell Tripp, & Luvenia Rape, all of Eastman ,GA.,and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A service will be held Friday afternoon (March 25, 2011) at 3PM from The Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Vance Colley officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Yawn, Randy Morrison, Justin Johns, Michael White, Jamie Gidden, William Lee, Larry Johns, Randy Rowell & Jeff Johns. Honorary Pallbearers will be the senior citizens classes. Burial will follow in the family plot at New Hope Cemetery in Hickox. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
