Nahunta- Joyce Lane Johns, 83, of Nahunta died early Saturday morning (June 28, 2014) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Kingsland after a brief illness. Born in Hoboken, GA her parents were William Lawton & Mattie Williams Lane. She is also preceded by her husband, Colonel Ray Johns; and several brothers and sisters, Lois Coad, Hazel Byrd, Helen Crews, Thelma Lee, Robert Lane, Edna Lane, & Reba Lane. Joyce was a homemaker and an active member of Nahunta First Baptist Church. Survivors include her 6 children and their spouses, Deborah J. & Donald Griner of Nahunta, Michael & Virginia Johns of Nahunta, Judith D. Johns of Nahunta, Jan J. Free of North Carolina, Jerry L. & Tracy Johns of Macon and Rocky & Michelle Johns of Hoboken; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Jason Strickland (Lisa) of Hortense, Alysha S. Henning (Scott) of Woodbine, Jennifer G. West (Matt) of Winder, Julie G. Rowell (Tony) of Nahunta, Janet G. White (Neil) of Alma, Christy N. Beepath of Jesup, April N. Morgan of FL, Jessie H. Johns of Macon, David L. Johns of Macon, Jared C. Johns of Hoboken, and Ray Jackson Johns of Hoboken; 15 great grandchildren, Carly R. Strickland of Hortense, Grant W. Henning of Woodbine, Hudson R. Henning of Woodbine, Logan M. Leverette of Winder, Manning M. West of Winder, Maddox G. West of Winder, Jayden M. Rowell of Nahunta, Jackson E. Rowell of Nahunta, Nathan E. White of Alma, Aiden T. White of Alma, Emma L. White of Alma, Kylie M. Beepath of Jesup, Kameron D. Beepath of Jesup, Zach A. Morgan of FL, and Elizabeth A. Morgan of FL; a sister, Doris Griffin of Waycross; a Brother and sister-in-law, W.B "JR" Lane (Elizabeth) of Hoboken; special friends, Mary Elizabeth Lane and Mary E. Johns; and also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Monday evening (June 30, 2014) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A funeral service will be held Tuesday evening (July 1, 2014) at 3PM at Nahunta First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Carson. Burial will follow in Rob Lewis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Strickland, David Johns, Jared Johns, Scott Henning, Grant Henning, Neil White and Tony Rowell. Honorary pallbearers will be John Thomas, Albert Thomas, Johnny Crews and the Heaven Bound Sunday School Class. The family would like to give a special Thanks to Southeast Georgia Health System in Kingsland and Brantley Bo-Kays in Nahunta. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
