Judge M.C. Pritchard

Waycross- Judge M.C. Pritchard, 84, of Waycross died early Monday morning (July 30, 2012)surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Born in Fitzgerald, GA his parents were Everett E. and Eloise McCranie Pritchard Sr. He is also preceded in death by 2 wives, Irene Wilson Pritchard and Marie Carter Pritchard; and a sister, Louise Faulk. Judge M.C. is a retired Juvenile Judge of the Waycross Judicial Circuit and served in the United States Navy. He was an outstanding football player having served as captain of Waycross Bulldogs, selected to the SGFA and Allstate team, attended Middle Georgia College on a football scholarship and earned letters in both football and tennis. Also he was inducted into the Waycross-Ware County Sports Hall of Fame. He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law with an LLB degree and served as Senior Justice on the Law School Honor Court. On September 23, 1950 he was admitted to the Georgia Bar. Also he has been admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of the United States, United States District Court of the Northern and Southern District of Georgia, Superior and State Courts of Georgia, including the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Court of Appeals of Georgia. He has also served as Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Waycross Judicial Circuit, past president of the Waycross Bar Association, the Waycross Jaycees, the Waycross Exchange Club, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Georgia Bar Association, Juvenile Judges Council of Georgia , Ware County Boosters Club and the Okefenokee Golf Club. Judge M.C. loved his children and grandchildren, loved watching UGA football and Ware County Gator football and golfing. Survivors include his 3 children and their spouses, Selina P. & James Pinckney of Waycross, Susan P. and James Aldridge of Blackshear and Marion Cleveland & Blanche Pritchard, Jr. of Waycross; 6 grandchildren, Tony & Ivy Kott, Jennings Pinckney, Samantha Aldridge(Fiance Kelly Young), Chris & Chantelle Aldridge, Ashley & Bryan Evans and Cassie Pritchard(Fiance Sean Medders); 5 great grandchildren, Cayden Kott, Jayla Martin, Preslee Aldridge, Alyssa Young and Aliza Bowen; brother, Major Everett E. Pritchard, Jr. of Beaufort, GA; 2 step-children, Sharon Heath and Charles Lee both of Waycross; 2 step grandchildren, Dr. Lina Harper and Millie Heath; 3 step great grandchildren, Amber Williamson, Hannah Harper and Heath Harper; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (August 1, 2012) from 5-8PM at Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross. A funeral service will be held Thursday morning (August 2, 2012) at 11AM at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Kit Brinson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Waycross. Pallbearers will be Tony Kott, Jennings Pinckney, Samantha Aldridge, Chris Aldridge, Kelly Young and Cassie Pritchard. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Hospice Satilla, 317 Plant Ave. Waycross, GA 31501. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahutna.
