Judith Lynn Mercer Rooks

Waynesville- Judith "Judy" Lynn Mercer Rooks, 54, of Waynesville died Thursday afternoon (August 4, 2011) at Southeast Georgia Health System after a brief illness. Born in Waycross, GA her parents were Roy and Dorothy Coffren Mercer. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Rooks. Judy was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Sarah & Michael Sapp and Nicole Rooks all of Waynesville; 2 grandchildren, Mikey and Julie Sapp; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony & Diane Mercer of Waycross, Tommy & Shirley Mercer of Douglas and Robbie Mercer of Tifton; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Bonnie Gibson of Brunswick and Brenda & Harold Nelson of Waycross; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday evening (August 6, 2011) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon (August 7, 2011) at 2PM at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Waynesville with Rev. Vance Colley and Rev. Joe Carr officiating. Pallbearers will be Robbie Mercer, Harold Nelson, Rooster Manning, Mark Carter and Alex Hall.
