Julia Thrift

Metter-Julia Mae "Judy" Prescott Thrift, 74 of Metter, passed away Monday (May 20, 2013) at her residence. Born in Folkston, Ga., her parents were Benjamin and Julia Harris Prescott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Everett "Bunk" Thrift; her son, Jerry "Boots" Herrin; 3 brothers, Donald, Bill, Benjamin "B.M" Prescott; and a sister, Jane Prescott. Julia was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. She worked as an interior decorator, and enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, cooking, and canning. Survivors include her 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Richard "Ricky" Herrin (Peggy), Parrish Herrin, and Jamie Herrin (Connie), all of Metter; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack Prescott (Caroline), of Folkston; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Maxine Dees (Elzie), of Covington, Ga, Annie Thrift (Roger), of Riverside, and Jackquline Prescott, of Folkston. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (May 22, 2013) starting at 6 PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday morning (May 23, 2013) at 11AM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Herrin, Parrish Herrin, Jamie Herrin, Terry Herrin, Matthew Herrin, and Joseph Herrin. Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
