Mr. Keith Strickland,75,of Nahunta died Friday night after a sudden illness at the Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick. Born in Raybon, GA. his parents were Elroy Strickland and Rhoda Purdom Strickland. Mr. Keith was a member of the Nahunta First Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon, Chairman of The Finance Committee and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. And had also served in the past on the church Property Committee, Also taught Sunday school for 20 years. He had attended Brewton-Parker College in his earlier years later becoming well know in the business industry in the surrounding area. He was owner of The Jiffy Market Corporation . Mr. Keith was very active helping get people into "The 12-Step Recovery Program". He enjoy spending time with his family and friends and really enjoyed his time on the Golf Course. Always there ready to lean a helping hand to those in need, he will truly be missed by all. Preceded in death by his parents, also a son, Ken Strickland. Survived by his loving wife and best friend for the past 56 years, Gladys Dukes Strickland, of Nahunta, 2-sons and a daughter-in-law, Ron Strickland, of Nahunta and Richard K. "Rick" and Sandy Strickland, of St. Simons Isl., 7-Grandchildren, Allyson, Blake, Kelsey, Zack and Jared Strickland, Eric Strickland (Barbie), and Kayla Marie Strickland, 2-Great-Grandchildren, Brooke and Lauren Strickland, a Sister and Brother-in-law, Helen and Jack Dowling, of Raybon, his brother and Sister-in-law, Glen and Suzanne Strickland, of Atlanta, GA., also several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. Visitation will be Sunday evening starting at 6:00 P.M. at the Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon (Jan. 11, 2010) at 2:00 P.M. from The Nahunta First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Carlson and Rev. Carl J. Milton officiating. Burial will follow in the family plots at Smyrna Cemetery in Lulaton. Pallbearers will be Billy Thomas, Randy Sellers, Michael Dowling,Edward Chancey, Trey Keene, Leon Wilson, Randall McCarty and Robert Thomas. Honorary will be Denise Hughes, Carl Jones, Joe C. Walker, Judge Ben Smith, John Smith, Dr. Wade Strickland and The First Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class. All are ask to meet at the church Monday by 1:15 P.M.. (The Strickland Family request if you can to join them at 12:30, to have a meal with them in the church social hall.)
