Nahunta – Kennith Gerald Drew, 69, of Nahunta passed away Thursday afternoon (January 24, 2019) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Brunswick his parents were Hubert L. Drew, Sr. and Phoebe Duggan Drew. He is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Louise Wainright; and father-in-law, Lloyd Wainright.
Gerald served in the United States National Guard and was a pipe fitter for UA Local 177 of Brunswick. He was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church and loved playing with his grandson, fishing, watching Georgia Bulldog Football, and being around people.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wainright Drew of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacie & Matt Brooker of Nahunta; a grandson, Colt Brooker of Nahunta; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, H.L. & Martha Drew, Jr. of Brunswick, John H. & Sandra Drew of Baxley, and Gary Drew of Brunswick; 2 sisters, Marion Kitler and Carolyn Hardwick both of Brunswick; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening (January 26, 2019) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (January 27, 2019) at 2PM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. Edward Colley officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Harris, Drew Harris, Devin Harris, Zach Tatum, Todd Drew, Brian Drew, Brian Lee, and Liston Wainright.
Honorary pallbearers will be UA Local 177 of Brunswick and Med Staff Nursing Service.
Pallbearers are asked to be at the church Sunday by 1:30pm.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
