Kennon Lavaughn Altman

April 9, 1933 — May 29, 2016

Hoboken- Kennon Lavaughn Altman, 83 of Hoboken, passed away Sunday morning (May 29, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System, in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born in Hoboken, GA., his parents were James Harvey Altman and Endeka Griffin Altman. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, J.H. Altman, Aubrey Altman, Carrol Altman, and Lamar Altman.

Mr. Altman was employed many years with Babcock and Wilcox, he was also a Farmer. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with his family, going to church, and he was always helping others.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathern Dowling Altman, of Hoboken; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Marshall Edgy, of Waynesville, Nancy and Bill Strickland, of Waycross, Jennifer and Dewayne Boatright, of Hoboken; six grandchildren and their spouses, Trampus and Rebecca Edgy, Candice and Matt Yawn, Lora and Ron Thornton, Rhea Able, Chelsi and Patrick Stieve, Hanna and Edward Stephens; nine great grandchildren, Dusty and Deanne Woods, Allie Woods, Colt Yawn, Hunter Yawn, Chevi and Jennifer Middleton, George Middleton, Garett Able, Bentley Stieve, and Raegan Stephens; three great great grandchildren, Palmer Woods, Presley Woods, and Elsie Middleton; his brother, Ellis Altman, of Hoboken; and his sister, Mary Louise Dowling, of Hazelhurst. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening (May 31, 2016) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday (June 1, 2016) at 11AM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. James Conners and Rev. Tim Rowell officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Griffin, Thomas Harris, Kenny Johns, Donny Gunter, Gary McKinnon, Terry Thrift, Adrian Carter, and Pete Crosby.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
