Nahunta- Kermit "Lamar" Johns, 68 of Nahunta, passed away Monday (November 3, 2014) at Mayo Clinic Health System following an extended illness. Born in Winokur, GA., his parents were Kermit Johns and Lula Mae Allen Johns. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Johns; 2 sisters, Ann Johns and Glenda Davis; and a brother, Wayne Johns. Lamar was a Sargeant in the United States Army. He worked many years as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Truck Driver for Bobby Johns Trucking,Pete O'Berry, and was also employed with Johnny Allen Stumpwooding. Lamar was a member of Bachlott Church of God and he enjoyed gardening, mowing grass, fishing, and he loved his church. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Lee Johns, of Nahunta; 4 stepdaughters and their spouses, Linda Crummey (Roy), of Nahunta. Charlene Smith (Darrel), of Nahunta, Theresa Drury (Tony), of Hoboken, and Cindy Batten, of Hoboken; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue White (Charles), of Hickox, Wanda Mohandespour (Jim), of Bachlott, Estor Nettles (Carl), of Bachlott, and Drene Herrin (Michael), of Hickox; brother-in-law, Gene Johns, of Bachlott. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Thursday evening (November 6, 2014) from 6PM-9PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Funeral Service will be held Friday afternoon (November 7, 2014) at 2PM at Bachlott Church of God with Rev. Ion Johns, Rev. Jack Dorminey, and Rev. Sonny Hickox officiating. Burial will follow in Bachlott Church Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Shannon Herrin, Desmond Johns, Dale Johns, Roy Crummey, Demarus Johns, J.J. Johns, and Cole Johns.
