Nahunta – Lant Pearson, 83, of Nahunta calmly departed this life on Wednesday afternoon (November 8, 2017) at Hospice of the Golden Isles after an extended illness.
Lant was an only child born in Thomasville, GA on October 16, 1934 to the late Oliver and Winnie “Nan” Stewart Pearson.
After graduating from Nahunta High School, he served his country in the United Sates Army. He also spent several years working with Atlantic Coastline. Lant then began employment with Gilman Paper Company in St. Marys, GA. His starting position was a floor sweeper. After a few years of carpooling, thousands of commuting miles and promotions, he relocated his family of four to Camden County. Lant retired 35 years later as a Superintendent. Never give up. Just keep that broom moving.
He enjoyed reading western books, watching television, camping, socializing, hunting, and his all-time favorite…fishing. Lant definitely loved his family.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 56 years, Shirley Pearson of Nahunta; a loving Father, Papa and Father-in-law to his daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Danny Saturday of Hahira; Son, Emory Pearson of Kingsland; and his only grandson, Taylor Jennings.
Lant did not want a formal funeral or memorial service. Therefore, friends and family are invited to join us for visitation Saturday (November 11, 2017) from 5pm-8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. The family will also be receiving visitors at his residence.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to special friends, Jackie and Gail Tumlin and Boyce and Barbara Davis. Also, would like to express their sincere gratitude to the amazing staff and request in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles , 1692 Glynco Parkway Brunswick, GA 31525. Their dedication and effort to provide Lant quality care over the last 5 months was outstanding and gave us such peace of mind.
Lant will be remembered by so many people whom were blessed to know him. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
